To work with a Mold Base

Select a standard mold base

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Mold Base.
  2. In the Mold Base dialog box, select the mold base Vendor and Type.
  3. Specify the mold base size.
    Note: The default size is a recommendation based on the dimensions displayed under Layout Information.
  4. Define the mold base position.
    1. Click Placement Ref Point and then in the graphics window, place a reference point.
    2. Under Placement, enter values for Rotate Mold Base and Core Pocket Depth.
  5. Click OK

Add a mold base component

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Mold Base.
  2. In the Mold Base dialog box, select the mold base Vendor and Type.
  3. Select the mold base size.
    Note: The default size is a recommendation based on the dimensions displayed under Layout Information.
  4. Define the mold base position.
    1. Click Placement Ref Point and then in the graphics window, place a reference point.
    2. In Placement, enter values for Rotate Mold Base and Core Pocket Depth.
  5. Select Customize.
  6. Enter a value for Core Cavity Plate Clearance.
  7. At the end of the Component list select Click to add a component....
  8. In the dialog box, select a Vendor and Category.
  9. Click the required component. The component displays in the Component list.
  10. Click OK.

Modify a plate or spacer

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Mold Base.
  2. In the Mold Base dialog box, select the mold base Vendor and Type.
  3. Specify the mold base size.

  4. Define the mold base position.
    1. Click Placement Ref Point and then in the graphics window, place a reference point.
    2. Under Placement, enter values for Rotate Mold Base and Core Pocket Depth.
  5. Select Customize.
  6. Enter a value for Core Cavity Plate Clearance.
  7. In the Component list, select a plate or spacer block to modify.
  8. To change the type of component, click Type Settings and then select a new component from the dialog box.
  9. To change the position of the component, click Position settings and then select locations on Front View.
  10. To change the properties of the component, click Property Settings.
    1. In the Component dialog box, edit the dimensions of the component in the Parameters table.
    2. Expand the dialog box, and in Preview Options, edit the Color and Transparency.
    3. Change the use of the plate by selecting a type from the Use plate as drop-down list.
    4. Edit the File Name and Part Number.
  11. To delete the component from the list, click Delete.
  12. Click OK.

Modify a pin, bush, sleeve, screw, or washer

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Mold Base.
  2. In the Mold Base dialog box, select the mold base Vendor and Type.
  3. Select the mold base size.
    Note: The default size is a recommendation based on the dimensions displayed under Layout Information.
  4. Define the mold base position.
    1. Click Place Ref Point and then in the graphics window, place a reference point.
    2. In Placement, enter values for Rotate Mold Base, Core Pocket Depth, and Core Cavity Plate Clearance.
  5. Select Customize.
  6. In the Component list, select a component to modify.
  7. To change the type of component, click Type Settings and then select a new component from the dialog box.
  8. To change the position of the component, click Position settings and then modify the pattern and position settings in the Position dialog box.
  9. To change the location of the component, click Choose targets and then select locations on Front View.
  10. To change the properties of the component, click Property Settings.
    1. In the Component dialog box, select Input Manually and then edit the dimensions of the component in the Parameters table.
    2. Expand the dialog and in Preview Options, edit the Color and Transparency .
    3. Change the direction of the component if necessary.
  11. To delete the component from the list, click Delete.
  12. Click OK.

Import and export a mold base as a template

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Mold Base.
  2. To import a mold base template:
    1. Click Import.
    2. In the Import Template dialog box, locate and select a template file.
    3. Click Open.
  3. To export a mold base as a template:
    1. Click Save.
    2. In the Export Template dialog box, navigate to the folder in which to save the template.
    3. Enter a name for the template.
    4. Click Save.

Edit a mold base

  1. In the Mold Design browser, right-click the Mold Base node, and then click Edit Feature.
  2. In the Mold Base dialog box, modify the parameters.
  3. Click OK.

Delete a mold base
