Calculate limits and fits

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Limits/Fits Calculator .
  2. On the Conditions group box, select the basis fit system and enter the calculation conditions.
  3. On the Tolerance Zones area, select the Fit Type from the pull-down list (for example the Interference fit).
  4. From the calculation results, you can select from the different colored tolerance zones. If such a tolerance zone does not exist, the conditions entered did not find any suitable fits.
Note: Click the More in the right lower corner of the Calculation tab to specify options such as standard or displayed tolerance image.

Clearance Fit

The calculated value of the shaft clearance fit in the bronze bushing.

This procedure creates an example using the sample specifications.

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Limits/Fits Calculator .
  2. On the Tolerance Zones group box, select Clearance Fit from the Fit Type drop-down list.
  3. On the Conditions group box, select the Hole-basis system of fits option.
  4. Set Basic Size to 40 mm.
  5. Set Min. clearance to 0.02 mm.
  6. Set Max. clearance to 0.08 mm.
  7. The result is only one highlighted tolerance zone “f”.
  8. Click OK.

Interference Fit

The interference fit value of the bronze bush in the hole hub.

This procedure creates an example using the sample specifications.

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Limits/Fits Calculator .
  2. On the Tolerance Zones group box, select Interference Fit from the Fit Type drop-down list.
  3. On the Conditions group box, select the Hole-basis system of fits option.
  4. Set Basic Size to 42 mm.
  5. Set Min. clearance to 0.005 mm.
  6. Set Max. clearance to 0.05 mm.
  7. From the calculation results, you can select from the different colored tolerance zones. If such a tolerance zone does not exist, the conditions entered did not find any suitable fits.
  8. Click OK.

Transition Fit

The shaft and key fit are designed for easy disassembly.

This procedure creates an example using the sample specifications.

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Limits/Fits Calculator .
  2. On the Tolerance Zones group box, select Transition Fit from the Fit Type drop-down list.
  3. On the Conditions group box, select the Hole-basis system of fits option.
  4. Set Basic Size to 40 mm.
  5. Set Max. clearance to 0.03 mm.
  6. Set Max. interference to 0.022 mm.
  7. The result is only one highlighted tolerance zone “k”.
  8. Click OK.
