Migrate Command

Open a legacy dataset and migrate it using the Migrate command. Migrate finds and migrates all dependencies that are loaded into the file.

Note: The Migrate command migrates derived parts, iPart, and iAssembly members that you inserted in the Assembly. Any part or assembly you used to create an iPart, iAssembly, or derived part that is not loaded into the assembly does not migrate. For example, the iPart factory or iAssembly factory does not migrate; only the members of the factory that are loaded into the Assembly migrate.
Note: If you manage complex assemblies, we recommend that you use Task Scheduler to migrate your data. Using Task Scheduler ensures that all legacy data migrates.

The Migrate command prompts you to confirm to migrate the file and dependencies even when the option 'Prompt to save for migration' in the Application Options, Save tab is cleared.

To use the Migrate command:

  1. Open a file that was created in an earlier version of Autodesk Inventor (as far back as Autodesk Inventor 2008).
  2. Click > Manage > Migrate.

The Migrate command is available only if the current file is not yet migrated.
