Use this dialog box to add and style labels for features. Styles you create with this dialog box can be edited in previous versions of AutoCAD Map 3D toolset. However, enhanced styling options (complex styles and symbols that support text) are not available.
In Display Manager, right-click a feature layer Edit Style. |
Select the check box to turn on the labels.
Specifies that the label can have multiple lines of text, but no advanced placement functionality. For all geometry types but lines, this is the only option available.
For line features, specifies a single-line label which follows a path and shrinks to fit. A single label is used for feature segments that have the same property value.
Select a property or select Expression to define an expression for the label text. For more information, see Using the Expression Builder.
Select a font from the list.
Select Device Space to specify label widths and heights in screen units. Available units are Points, Inches, Millimeters, or Centimeters.
Select Map Space to specify label widths and heights in Mapping Coordinate System (MCS) units. Available units are Inches, Feet, Yards, Miles, Millimeters, Centimeters, Meters, and Kilometers.
Select the type of units to use.
Enter the text size or specify the size using an expression.

The graphical area just below Add Label shows the elements and the order in which they will appear. Select an element in the graphical area to change its position, appearance, and content. Use the arrow keys to change the position of the selected item. To delete an item, select it and click X.
For Text Content, select a property as the source of the label text, or select Expression to define an expression. For more information, see Using the Expression Builder. To specify static text instead of a property, select Static from the Text Content dropdown and enter the text in the field provided.
To use an expression for a style option, scroll to the bottom of its drop-down list. Once you have used an expression, a function symbol will be superimposed on the icon for that setting.
To apply bold, italic, or underlining, click one or more of the Format options.
Select a text color.
Select one of the following background styles:
For Ghosted and Opaque background styles, click a color in the Background Color list.
Horizontal alignment is available for point layers with fixed labels instead of symbols.
Vertical alignment is available for labels on polyline layers.
Select one of the available positions or select a layer property that contains alignment information for each feature.
