To Set Arc Segmentation Values

Feature source providers that do not support circular arcs create segmented lines to simulate the curves of an arc. This is called tessellation. You can specify the arc-chord distance, which determines the density of the segmented lines, for such providers. For example, this setting will apply to SHP (regardless of the coordinate system) and Oracle (when a geodetic coordinate system is used).

To specify an arc-segmentation value

  1. In Display Manager, select the feature layer that will use this value.

The setting is available only for data stores that do not support circular arcs.

  2. On the Vector Layer tab that appears in the ribbon, in the Arc Segmentation panel, enter the arc-chord distance and unit.

To use the arc-segmentation settings of the native (or target) data store when saving, exporting, or using Bulk Copy

  1. In the Planning And Analysis Ribbon Workspace, click Map Setup tab Feature Data panel angle-arrow.
  2. In the Feature Editing Options dialog box, select Use Feature Source Setting To Segment Arcs.
  3. Click OK.
