To split a feature into two parts, for example a parcel, use the MAPFEATURESPLIT command.
To split a feature
- Optionally, specify split rules.
Note: To
set these rules, in the
Data Table click
OptionsSet Split and Merge Rules.
- Optionally, specify split prompts.
Note: To
set these options, in the
Planning And Analysis workspace, click
Feature Edit tab
Edit Set Panel

- Select the feature.
- If you do not have Auto Checkout turned on, check out the feature.

Find
- Follow the MAPFEATURESPLIT prompts to specify whether the resulting feature will be a new or a multipart feature.
- Follow the prompts to specify whether the resulting feature will use a new or existing feature ID.
- Follow the prompts to select or draw a split line.
- Check in the revised features.
To turn Ignore Split And Merge Rules on or off
- In the Planning And Analysis workspace, click Ignore Rules .
To set split prompt options
- In the Planning And Analysis workspace, click Feature Edit tabEdit Set Panelangle arrow, or enter mapfeatureeditoptions at the Command prompt.
- In the Feature Editing Options dialog box, select the Split Prompt Options you want.
- Click OK.
