Adjust the timing of audio in a sequence

You can use the Attribute Editor for a selected audio node in order to adjust how an audio clip plays in the Camera Sequencer. You can edit when the audio starts and stops playing in the sequence, change which part of the audio source is used, or add extra frames with no sound at the beginning of the clip.

Note: If you encounter jittering or stuttering in the audio playback while using multiple tracks, use MAYA_SEQUENCER_ENABLE_AUDIO_FIX in the Audio Variable topic to correct for this.

To adjust the audio clip start and end time for a sequence

If you have imported audio for an entire sequence, you can change when the audio clip plays using the Offset and End Frame attributes.

  1. Select the audio clip you want to change.
  2. In the Attribute Editor (on the audio node tab), set the sequence start frame you want in the Offset value, and set the sequence end frame you want in the End Frame attribute.

To adjust the audio start and end for a shot

If you have imported audio for a specific shot, you can change when the audio clip plays using the Silence and Source End attributes.

  1. Select the audio clip you want to change.
  2. In the Attribute Editor, expand the Sequencer Attributes heading on the audio node tab.
  3. To offset the audio from the start of the shot, enter the number of frames of silence you want to play first using the Silence attribute.
  4. To stop the audio before the end of the shot, enter the frame where you want the audio to end in the Source End attribute.

To trim the start or end of the audio file

To change which part of the audio clip plays during the associated shot or sequence, you can trim the audio.

  1. Select the audio clip you want to trim.
  2. In the Attribute Editor (on the audio node tab), under the Sequencer Attributes heading, do one or both of the following:
    • To change the frame (from the original sound source file) where the audio starts to play, edit the Source Start value.
    • To change the frame (from the original sound source file) where the audio stops playing, edit the Source End value.

To add a period of silence to the beginning of an audio clip

  1. In the Camera Sequencer, select the audio clip where you want to add silence.
  2. In the Attribute Editor under the Sequencer Attributes heading, set the Silence attribute to the number of frames of silence you want to add.
