Panel menu: View

This View menu displays above the scene view, or above each view panel in a layout with multiple scene views.

Select Camera

Selects the view’s corresponding camera. The attributes for this camera appear in the Channel Box and the Attribute Editor.

Tip:

Selecting the camera is useful if you want to edit the look-at and camera up nodes associated with the camera.

Lock Camera

Lock the currently selected camera to avoid inadvertently changing the camera position and thus your animation. When a camera is locked, its transformation information cannot be adjusted. See Lock your current camera.

You can assign a hotkey to the menu item through the Hotkey Editor. Select Windows > Settings/Preferences > Hotkey Editor to open the Hotkey Editor, then select Other items from the Edit Hotkeys For drop-down list, and expand the Viewport Menus category.

Create Camera From View

Creates a new camera using the current camera settings. The new camera automatically becomes active.

Cycle Through Cameras

Cycles through the custom cameras in the scene. When no custom cameras exist, cycles through the standard cameras in the scene.

Undo View Change

Cancels your most recent viewport change and moves back in the view history.

Redo View Change

Cancels the previous Undo View Change command and moves forward in the view history.

Default View
Cancels your previous viewport change and revert back to the default view.
View Along Axis

You can move your camera to view your scene along different axes; for example, -X or Y. Select the axis you want from this menu. The camera heads up display at the bottom of the viewport reflects the axis on which you are viewing the scene; for example, persp -Z versus persp Z.

You can assign a hotkey to these menu items through the Hotkey Editor. Select Windows > Settings/Preferences > Hotkey Editor to open the Hotkey Editor, then select Other items from the Edit Hotkeys For drop-down list, and expand the Viewport Menus category.

Look at Selection

Select this option so that the camera moves to show selected objects in the center of the camera's view. Unlike Frame All and Frame Selection, however, the camera does not zoom or dolly; it only tracks horizontally and vertically so that the selected objects appear in the center of the scene view.

You can assign a hotkey to the menu item through the Hotkey Editor. Select Windows > Settings/Preferences > Hotkey Editor to open the Hotkey Editor, then select Other items from the Edit Hotkeys For drop-down list, and expand the Viewport Menus category.

Center View of Selection

Select this option to move the camera to the center of a selected object without zooming in.

You can assign a hotkey to the menu item through the Hotkey Editor. Select Windows > Settings/Preferences > Hotkey Editor to open the Hotkey Editor, then select Other items from the Edit Hotkeys For drop-down list, and expand the Viewport Menus category.

Frame All
Select this option or press A to look at and fill the view with all objects in the scene. You can also choose Display > Frame All in All Views from the main menu, or press Shift+A, to frame all objects in all views.
Frame Selection

Select this option or press F to look at and fill the view with the selected objects in the scene.

If you select a parent without its children, only the parent is framed. If no objects are selected, this option behaves the same as Frame All. You can also choose Display > Frame Selection in All Views from the main menu, or press Shift+F.

Frame Selection with Children

Select this option or press Ctrl + F to look at and fill the view with the selected objects in the scene. If you select a parent object, both parent and child objects are framed. You can also choose Display > Frame Selection with Children in All Views from the main menu, or press Ctrl + Shift + F.

Align Camera To Polygon

Camera's view position aligns perpendicularly to the direction of the selected polygon object's normals.

Predefined Bookmarks
Switch among the predefined camera views in Maya, for example, Perspective, Front, Top, and so forth.
Bookmarks

Create a bookmark to save your current camera view.

Select Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks to open the Bookmark Editor, where you can create, edit and delete your current bookmarks. The bookmarks you create are available via this menu.

Camera Settings
Adjust your camera settings. See Camera settings options.
Camera Attribute Editor
Opens your camera Attribute Editor. See Camera Attribute Editor.
Camera Tools
Select from among various camera tools. See Camera Tools menu.
Image Plane
Create an image plane or access its attributes. See Create, edit, or position an image plane, Image plane menu, and Image plane attributes.
View Sequence Time
If you are using the Camera Sequencer in a layout with multiple panels, use this menu item to set whether the panel displays the active camera view from the Camera Sequencer, or its own active camera.
