Show or hide components

Use the items in the Display > NURBS and Display > Polygons submenus, as well as the Display > Hide and Display > Show submenus.

Tip: When you are in component selection mode, Maya automatically shows the components on the selected objects.
To... Do this

Hide selected polygon components: faces (polygons), edges, or vertices (points).

Do one of the following:
  • Press Ctrl + H or H

  • Select Display > Hide > Hide Selection

Note: Selected edges and vertices are converted to faces before they are hidden.

Hide unselected objects or components.

Press Alt + H

Show selected components.

Press Shift + H

Show all hidden polygon components on the selected objects.

Do one of the following:
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + H or Shift + H

  • Press H when in component mode with no other components selected or multiple hidden and non-hidden components selected.

  • Use the Display > Show > All Components.

Show the last hidden group of components or object.

Press Ctrl + Shift + H

Show or hide NURBS components on the selected objects.

Use the Display > NURBS submenus.

Show CVs on all NURBS surfaces.

Select Display > Show > All Surface CVs.

Show or hide backfaces (polygon faces hidden behind other faces) on the selected polygons.

Select Display > Polygons > Backface Culling.
