Before sending your Control rig to MotionBuilder, make sure that you have set your Maya project and saved the scene you want to use in MotionBuilder to the currently set project.
Sending a new scene to MotionBuilder
- In the
Outliner, viewport, or
HumanIK window, select at least one character element (a bound mesh, joints of the character's skeleton, or an effector of the Control rig) and the Maya objects you want to send to MotionBuilder.
See
Selecting HumanIK character data.
- Select
File > Send to MotionBuilder > Send as New Scene.
Note: If
Send to MotionBuilder does not appear in the
File menu, you may need to reload the
OneClick plug-in. See
Load or unload Maya plug-ins.
MotionBuilder starts and opens the objects sent from Maya. Maya and MotionBuilder are now connected as indicated in both application status bars.
- Using MotionBuilder, animate or apply motion capture data to your Control rig.
- In MotionBuilder, select
File > Send to Maya > Update Current Scene to send the rig to Maya. Maya loads the animated rig.
You can also click Update in the MotionBuilder status bar to send the scene back to Maya.
You can make changes to the objects in a scene and/or add new ones, then update the other application by selecting them and clicking the Update button.
