Create a Control rig

Once you have a skeleton with a valid skeleton definition, you can create a Control rig for your character. Characters must have a Control rig in order to receive retargeted animation.

To create a Control rig

  1. Load a HumanIK character with a valid skeleton definition. (See Create a HumanIK skeleton definition.)
  2. Do either of the following:
    • In the HumanIK window, select your HumanIK character from the Character menu and select Control Rig from the Source menu.
    • From the main menu bar (Rigging menu set) select Control > Create Control Rig.

    This creates a Control rig for the character based on its skeleton structure, and the Character Controls switch to the Controls tab.

Note: You can set up a rig automatically using the Quick Rig tool. See Create an automatic character rig for a mesh.

To change the default appearance of Control rig effectors

  1. In the HumanIK window, select > Edit Control Rig > Rig Look, then select the effector type you want:
