You can import Create VR sub-d, surface, and curve objects in Maya as well as other content creation applications that support the FBX file format, such as Autodesk 3ds Max.
In Maya, choose File > Import >
.
In the File Import Options window, select FBX.
Click Import and browse to the CreateVR\Saves directory to locate the file to import. For example C:\Users\Documents\CreateVR\Saves.
Create VR FBX files are automatically named using the date and time the file was saved.
You can transfer several Maya geometry types including mesh or sub-d objects, as well as NURBS surfaces and curves to Create VR by exporting to FBX.
You can also open FBX files containing supported geometry types that have been created by other content creation applications. You can modify these objects using Create VR sub-d and curve modeling tools. Be aware that high-resolution meshes may affect performance.
When transferring Maya geometry to Create VR, note the following:
In Maya, select a sub-d, mesh, NURBS surface or curve object.
Choose File > Export Active As, select FBX from the File Formats drop-down list, and browse to the CreateVR/Assets directory. For example: C:\Users\Documents\CreateVR\Assets.
You can now click the Import Geometry
icon in the Layer Palette menu and browse to the CreateVR\Assets folder to load the geometry as a reference object.
