You can remove a reference file from the current scene using the Remove Reference option. Removing a file reference cannot be undone.
Note: If a referenced file is associated with the root namespace, removal of its associated namespace, or other merging operations do not apply and are not available. In most situations, associating a referenced file with the root namespace when it is referenced into a scene is not recommended.
To remove a file reference
- Do one of the following:
- In the Outliner, right-click the reference you want to remove, and then select Reference > Remove from the menu that appears.
- In the Reference Editor, select the referenced file you want to remove, and select Reference > Remove Reference.
If the reference you want to remove has an associated namespace, the Remove Reference window appears.
- In the Remove Reference window, click one of the following:
-
Merge with root to remove the reference and merge the associated namespace to the root namespace.
-
Merge with parent to remove the reference and merge the associated namespace to an immediate parent namespace.
-
Delete namespace(s) to remove the reference and delete the associated namespace.
-
Keep namespace(s) to remove the reference and keep the associated namespace.
The selected file reference is removed from the scene.
