A number of improvements have been made to Maya's startup experience, including:
- Faster start up and quit times
- No longer steals focus during start up
- Remembering the state of the Output Window
- Ability to copy specific preferences from a previous install
- A new, more informative splash screen
Faster start up and quit times and new splash screen
Optimizations have been made to greatly speed up Maya's start and quit times. During this time, it will display a new splash screen with more detailed information about what it is loading during the process.
Unlike before, Maya will no longer display an unresponsive UI during start up - the UI will
only display once it is fully ready to be interacted with. Finally, Maya will no longer steal focus from other applications during the start up process, leaving you free to work in other applications while waiting.
New Copy Preferences options
As in previous versions, Maya allows you to create default preferences or copy preferences from an old version of Maya to a newer one on first start up. Now you can also choose to copy specific preferences, like shelves, hotkeys, etc.
Output Window state
Maya will now remember the previous state of the Output Window. So if you closed it in a previous session, it will stay closed when starting up the next session. If you prefer the old behavior, you can use the environment variable MAYA_SHOW_OUTPUT_WINDOW to force it to show on every startup.
