Use the Parent/Child constraint to create a parent-to-child relationship between any two objects.
To create a Parent/Child relationship between objects:
- Select a Parent/Child constraint from the Asset browser’s Constraints folder and drag it into the Viewer window.
- If you drag it into an empty area of the Viewer window, the Parent/Child constraint template appears in the Constraint settings.
- If you drag the constraint on top of an object, a context menu appears asking if you want to assign the object as the constraint’s Source or Constrained object.
Constraint context menu
- Assign the object that you want to inherit translation and rotation from the source object (parent object) to the Constrained object (child object) cell.
- Assign the object that you want to send translation and rotation information to the constrained object (child object) to the Source (parent object) cell.
- Click Lock in the Constraint settings to lock the position of the objects to be constrained.
- Click Active to activate the constraint.
