The Preferences window includes the Character preference settings.
The Character preference settings enable you to change the default:
- Auxiliary Reach T value
- Auxiliary Reach R value
- Solver
- Method of expanding auxilliary effectors
To access the Character preferences:
- From the menu bar, select Settings Preferences.
- In the Preferences window, click the Character preference option.

- This menu offers you an alternate method for setting character solvers. (You can also choose a solver
Character Solver list menu, accessible in the Navigator window Character Settings pane.)

The default Solver is the HIK 2016 Solver.
- Default Values
- Set Human Finger Limits to controls the default value of the character's HumanFingerLimits property value when creating a new character. This preference is off by default.

- Activate this option to show auxiliary pivots/effectors expanded in the Character Controls, so you don't need to expand IK auxiliaries each time you select individual effectors.
