Collections of surfaces or triangles that define logical regions on a parametric or a mesh body
Face groups are usually defined when importing a CAD model, but they can also be created manually by using
Texture & Color Mesh and then converting the color to a face group.
Once defined, face groups can be used here:
- During the cluster detection for creating supports, every field created by section or intersection of face groups with clusters is treated as a separate cluster.
- When searching for part orientation, use face groups to exclude areas from receiving support, thus affecting the ranking of orientation results.

Manually slicing parts stores the face groups in the contours so that those can be treated separately
Face groups only stored within a FABBPROJECT, they are not maintained during export.
Duplicating parts with face groups, or cutting parts with face groups does not create new face groups with new IDs for the segments. Merging separate parts with face groups of the same ID, using Boolean merge, for example, also merges the groups.
