Controls

Detail: Resolution of conversion is defined by three values, Maximum surface deviation, Angle tolerance, and Maximum edge length.
Parameter Description Unit Range Example
Maximum surface deviation

This parameter specifies the maximum allowable distance between generated mesh triangles and the model geometry.

Tip: If you have two rounded bevel edges meet at a corner, setting this to a smaller value will ensure that the corner is properly rounded, too.
Millimeters 0.05-20 mm

This is the same location of several beveled edges meeting, one with 1 mm, the other with 0.05 mm maximum surface deviation.

Angle tolerance

This parameter specifies the maximum change in the surface normal between adjacent nodes in the mesh. This applies along the EDGES and between the grid lines.

Effectively, the lower this number, the finer the resolution of imported curves and roundings.

Degrees 0.1-40°

This is the same corner, one with 40 °, the other with 5 ° angle tolerance, imported with an otherwise rather high maximum surface deviation.

Maximum edge length This sets the greatest length of any generated triangle's edge. Millimeters 0.2-40 mm
These values can be specified either manually (Controlled precision) or through a selection of presets. These presets are:
Preset Maximum surface deviation Angle tolerance Maximum edge length
Extra low 10 mm 15° 100 mm
Low 5 mm 10° 40 mm
Medium 2 mm 20 mm
High 0.5 mm 10 mm
Extra high 0.2 mm 2 mm
