To Apply Point Reduction

Structures often result in very complex slices. The Point Reduction function is recommended to decrease processing time for these complex slices. Many bars of structures are very thin and their number of corners may not make any difference, since the manufacturing machine may not be able to produce such fine contours. Additionally, with many repetitions of the structure cell, a slight point reduction can save processing and production time and significantly reduce data volume.

  1. Select a slice in the project tree.
  2. Right-click and choose Extras > Point Reduction.
  3. Enter a maximum deformation.
  4. Click OK.
Note: For very fine structures, you must enter a low deformation so that the structure keeps its shape and not too many points are removed.

Enable the Preview Calculations check box to view the effect of the point reduction. Right-click the slice and choose Extended > Clear Grouping to undo the point reduction.
