Raster - Ordering

The Ordering options are described using images, where the numbered lines represent toolpath segments.

One way — The tool cuts in one direction:

One way grouped — The tool cuts in one direction and PowerMill chooses the shortest distance between each toolpath segment:

Two way — The tool can cut in two directions and PowerMill chooses the shortest distance between each toolpath segment. The toolpath segments are joined with lead and link moves:

Two way joined — The tool can cut in two directions and PowerMill chooses the shortest distance between each toolpath segment. The toolpath segments are joined with cutting moves:

Two way ungrouped — The tool can cut in two directions:

Up — The tool's cutting moves always take place on the upward stroke. PowerMill re-arranges the order and direction of the toolpath segments to achieve this. This may result in splitting segments which include a change of direction.

Down — The tool's cutting moves always take place on the downward stroke. PowerMill re-arranges the order and direction of the toolpath segments to achieve this. This may result in splitting segments which include a change of direction.
