A tool entity in PowerMill is a representation of a physical tool, which includes the tool's tip, shank, and holder. By accurately representing the dimensions of your tools, PowerMill is able to perform accurate collision checking against the stock.
You can create and edit new tools for each project, or use existing tools from the tool database. The tool database is an electronic tool catalogue which stores the tool geometry, tool material, stock material, and the speeds and feeds information for those materials.
By automatically calculating feeds and speeds for different materials, this enables you to quickly find the correct tool for an operation, without having to look up values in a large catalogue.
You can access many of the functions you need to create and modify tools from the Tool tab on the ribbon.
