Creating a tool holder (EX)

This example shows you how to create a holder for a specific tool.

1. From the individual toolpath menu, select Settings.
2. Select the Holder tab on the Tool dialog.
3. Click the Add Component button to add the first portion of the tool holder.
4. Enter the following values in the Dimensions area of the Holder tab.
   1. Upper Diameter - 60
   2. Lower Diameter - 30
   3. Length - 50
   4. Overhang - 85
5. Click the Add Component button to add the second portion of the tool holder.
6. Enter the following values in the Dimensions area.
   1. Upper Diameter - 60
   2. Lower Diameter - 60
   3. Length - 40
7. Click the Add Component button to add the third portion of the tool holder.

   Ensure that the second portion of the tool holder is selected in the Components area (represented by a pale pink component) before adding the third portion. Otherwise, the next component is added below it rather than above it.

8. Enter the following values in the Dimensions area.
   1. Upper Diameter - 110
   2. Lower Diameter - 60
   3. Length - 50
9. Click the Add Component button to add the fourth portion of the tool holder.

   Ensure that the third portion of the tool holder is selected in the Components area (represented by a pale pink component) before adding the fourth portion. Otherwise, the next component is added below it rather than above it.

10. Enter the following values in the Dimensions area of the Holder tab.
    1. Upper Diameter - 110
    2. Lower Diameter - 110
    3. Length - 50

    To edit an individual holder component, in the Components area, select the portion of the holder you want to edit. The selected portion turns pale pink and the values are displayed in the Dimensions area for editing. To delete an individual holder component, in the Components area, select the holder component that you want to delete, and click the Remove Holder Component button.

11. Click Close.

    The tool, shank, and tool holder are displayed in the graphics window:
