Shading the burn area of an electrode

You can use the context menu to shade the burn area of electrodes. This gives flexibility for machining within PowerMill because you can define a template to machine the different areas appropriately.

To display shading of the burn area:

1. Right-click an electrode to display the context menu.
2. Click Burn-area shading to toggle the shading on and off.

The default shading for the faces is as follows:

• burning — red
• extension — orange
• clearance — yellow
• base — green

The settings for burn area shading are stored in:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\PowerShapexxxxx\file\electrode\electrode_burn_region_shading.con

Warning: If you edit the default .con file, you must copy it into the shareddb, otherwise when PowerShape is updated the changes and additions are lost.
