To speed up editing a solid, you can defer updating it. This enables you to apply several edits to the feature tree of a solid without having to wait for the solid to update after each edit. All the edits are treated as one command and applied when you exit defer update mode.
To edit a solid in defer update mode:
- Right-click the
Feature
icon of the solid in the feature tree.
- Select
Defer Update from the context menu.
The icon next to the
Feature
icon in the tree changes to the
Defer Update
icon.
- Change the solid. While you are in defer update mode:
- All edits on the features are available, for example, suppressing, re-ordering and using the dialogs to edit features.
- The feature tree is updated after each edit, but the solid does not graphically change.
Note: When you edit some features using their dialogs, their correct shape is displayed. When you finish editing them, their original shape is displayed and they appear unedited.
If you delete a feature, the
Deleted feature
icon is placed next to the icon of the feature in the tree.
The feature remains visible in the solid and is only removed when you exit defer update mode.
- Exit defer update mode. To exit the mode:
- Click the
Defer update
icon.
- Right-click the
Feature
icon of the solid in the feature tree and select
Defer Update from the context menu.
- Deselect the solid by clicking in free space.
- Begin a different operation, for example create a line.
The edits are applied to the solid.
Note: Undo
is not available in defer update mode. When you exit defer update mode, the
Undo command treats all the deferred edits as a single command.
