Create curves from mesh boundary

To create a curve from a mesh boundary:

  1. Select a mesh or triangles in a mesh.
  2. Click Mesh Tools tab > Create panel > Boundary to create the curve at the boundary of the selected mesh, and to display the Curve options dialog:

  3. Move the Curve smoothness slider to smooth the curve.
  4. Move the Curve location slider to adjust the position of the curve relative to the area enclosed. There are three positions for the curve:
    • Outside— The curve encloses the selected triangles.

    • Average— Some triangles are within the curve and some are outside the curve.

    • Inside The curve is enclosed within the selected triangles.

Note: The Curve location slider has no effect when the Curve smoothness slider is in its original position.
  5. Click Apply to save your changes and leave the dialog open, or click OK to save your changes and close the dialog. A composite curve is created from the mesh boundary.

  6. To view the composite curve, right-click the mesh and select Blank to hide the mesh.

  7. Edit the composite curve.
