Model options

Use the Model page of the Options dialog to specify model options.

1. Click File > Options > Application Options > File > Model.
2. Specify the settings for saving models using the following options:

Model Compression

Compress on close — Select this option to compress the model when it is closed after saving.

Compression limit (%) — Enter a value to specify the percentage by which the model is reduced in size. For example, if you enter 25, models are only compressed if they reduce in size by 25% or more.

Autosave

Set the Time between autosaves (minutes) to regularly save Parasolid (post-version 8) models. This allows model recovery up to the point of the last autosave.

The default setting is five minutes.

Note: Autosave occurs only while creating or editing geometry. It does not occur if PowerShape is idle for more than five minutes.

Delete Models

Use recycle bin — Select this option to send deleted models to the recycle bin (providing the bin is not full). Otherwise, the models are permanently removed from the system.

Thumbnail Save Mode

Choose an option to specify when the thumbnail is saved.

Automatic — A thumbnail is automatically saved when the model is saved.

Manual — This allows you to decide when you want to save the thumbnail.

Model Location

Always save and open from outside the database — Select this option to make the Save and Open commands save and open models outside the model database.

Search paths for models — This window displays the list of paths that are searched for models. You can change the search list by using the associated buttons.

Use first model path as default model path — Select this option to set the default model location to the first entry in the list of model paths.

• If the option is selected, open and save operations use the first model path as the default location. If the model path list is empty, the default location is set to the current directory.
• If this option is deselected, the default path is specified in the Start in option on the PowerShape shortcut.

— Add a new path to Search paths for component libraries. Clicking this displays the Browse For Folder dialog. Select the path to add to the list of search paths.

— Removes selected path from Search Paths for Models.

— Move selected path up in search order.

— Move selected path down in search order.

You can replace a selected path by double-clicking on a path in the window and selecting a replacement path from the Browse for Folder dialog

Most Recently Used Files

Number of files in menu — Enter the quantity of recently opened models to be listed at the bottom of the File > Recent option. The default is 4 and the maximum number of files in the list is 20.
