Adding components to an assembly using the Component Library

To add a component from a library to an assembly:

  1. Select File > Open > Component Library to open the appropriate Component Library.
  2. Select View tab > Window panel > User Interface > Component Library to open the Library View Window, and display the thumbnail images of the components.
  3. Add the component to the assembly using one of the following techniques:

Using the component thumbnail images:

  1. Double-click the thumbnail image of the component.

    The component is positioned on the cursor using the default attachment.

    To change the attachment, hold down Ctrl to flip the component orientation, or press the up and down arrow keys to cycle through other attachments.

  2. Click in the graphics window to add the component to the assembly.

Using the context menu:

  1. Right-click the component you want to add to the assembly.
  2. Select an option to add the component to the assembly:
    • Add to Assembly — To position the component using the cursor. The cursor changes to .

      Move the cursor to the required position and left-click. You can add multiple instances of the same component. When you have added all required components, click on the Quick Access toolbar.

    • Add to Assembly Advanced — To position the component using the Insert Axial Component toolbar.
Tip: You can use component definitions from any component library in any assembly, by selecting the appropriate tab for the component library you want to use.
