Use the
Spun Profile option to create turned profiles of models in
PowerShape. This supports the turning capability in
PowerMill.
To create a spun profile:
- Select the model from which the spun profile will be created, for example:
- Click Wireframe tab > From Selection panel > Spun Profile.
The
Spun Profile dialog is displayed:
and the principal plane around which the model will be spun is displayed:
In this example, the principal plane is Z.
You can change the principal plane around which the model is spun to any axis of a local or global workplane, and
Preview multiple times.
- Change the principal plane to X, and click
Preview to display a preview of the spun profile:
The spun profile curve is displayed in yellow.
- If required, select the way in which the spun profile is closed from the following:

Close along axis — to close the curve along the axis of the principal plane:

Close perpendicular to axis — to close the curve perpendicular to the axis of the principal plane:
- Select both of these options to close the curve both along and perpendicular to the axis:
- Click OK to accept changes and close the dialog, or click Cancel to cancel unapplied changes and close the dialog.
