To Create Catalogs and Copy Components
To create a catalog from an existing catalog
In the Spec Editor, click File menu
New
New Catalog From Existing.
Enter the Source Catalog name (for example:
ASME Pipes and Fittings Catalog.pcat
).
Enter the New Catalog file name (for example:
ASME Pipes and Fittings Catalog - Copy
).
Click Create.
Note:
You can create a catalog and delete all components to use as an empty catalog template.
To copy a component in the same catalog
In the Catalog Editor, in the Catalog Browser, right-click a component. Click Duplicate Component.
In the Duplicate Part Family dialog box, enter a new unique part family name.
Click Create.
To copy a component to a different catalog
In the Catalog Editor, in the Catalog Browser, select one or more components to copy.
In the Edit menu, click Copy.
In the Catalog list, open a different catalog.
In the Tools pane, under Common Filters, click Add Copy to Catalog.
In the Edit menu, click Paste.
To remove components from a catalog
In the Catalog Editor, click a part from an open catalog to duplicate and modify.
Click Remove From Catalog.
Note:
Removing parts from the default catalogs is not recommended. The best practice is to make a copy of a catalog to modify.
To import an
AutoCAD MEP toolset
catalog
At the Command prompt, enter
plantamepimportcatalog
.
Note:
This procedure must be performed in
AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset
.
