To configure property mapping and spec updates

These tasks are for administrators.

To map P&ID objects to Spec objects

1. Home tabProject panelProject ManagerProject Setup.
2. Expand Pipe Specs in P&IDPipe Spec Object Mapping.
3. Select the tab related to the piping component to work on:
   • lines
   • valves
   • fittings
   • specialty items
4. Select the P&ID Object to map.
   Note: When a P&ID object has been mapped, it displays in black text. When it is unmapped, it displays in grey text.
5. Select the Pipe Spec objects(s) to map the selected P&ID object to.
   Note: Since P&IDs can be customized, new classes may have been added that exist in say the Valves class, but need to be mapped to a different spec class. Clicking on the lightning bolt displays a class selector so you can choose one other than the default. The override mode displays the name of the override. To go back to the defaults, click the displayed icon and select Acquire Mode from the list.

To set property mappings for P&ID objects

1. Select a P&ID object mapped to a spec object and click the Property Mapping tab.
   Note: The P&ID column is a fixed non editable list, and the Pipe Specs column lists the properties available for the selected class.
2. Click the lightning bolt next to a P&ID object and select Override mode to override the default mapping.
   Note: The object with an override is displayed with a grey shaded box in the P&ID Objects list.

   The Update from Spec column indicates whether or not to use the mapping and then apply the spec results to the mapped P&ID property. For example, if you place a Gate Valve in a P&ID in a spec driven project, it is going to check to see if that Gate Valve is in the spec. Then you can transfer spec property values to the P&ID object and keep them in sync which is done via the spec update mechanism.

3. Select a new value from the Pipe Specs pull-down.
4. Select whether or not to Update from Spec.

5. Once a P&ID Object has been overridden, you can use the Select All and Deselect All text to set all the Update from Spec values at once.
