You can use a DXF or DWG model file as a background for modeling your structure. This is useful if you want to define a 3D structure model based on a set of 2D projections from an architect for example.
- Click File
Import DXF and DWG Backgrounds. - In the Open dialog, specify if you want to create a link between the background and the RTD file or not.
Note: By default the program creates a link between the background and the RTD file. This allows you to update the file path in the Object Inspector if you save your drawing in another location, or if you move the file to another computer.
If you don't want to create a link and prefer to save the background as an RTD file, clear the Link option in the Open dialog.
- Select a DXF or DWG file, and then click Open. The DWG/DXF import dialog opens, and the background is displayed in the drawing area. Note: If the background does not display, modify the plane in the DWG/DXF import dialog. The insertion plane must be the same as the one defined in the original DXF or DWG file.
- In the Insert tab, specify the import parameters as necessary.
- Select the units for the model.
- Select the plane in which you want to import the background.
- Scale or rotate the model.
- Specify the visibility range.
- Go to the Layers tab, and then select the layers that you want to display.
- Click OK.
