RC slab wizard - Support

On the Support tab you define the support conditions of a defined slab.

Select a type of a defined slab. This is either Floor slab or Raft foundation.

Floor slab

If a floor slab is selected, the following two tabs are provided in the dialog:

1. Walls

   Do the following to define a wall supporting the slab.

   1. Enter coordinates of the beginning and end of a support or indicate the points graphically in a drawing
   2. Select a wall width and a support type (pinned or fixed).

   To generate slab support on all edges, click Generate automatically on edges.

2. Columns

   Do the following to define columns supporting a slab.

   1. Enter the coordinate of a column or indicate it graphically in a drawing.
   2. Select parameters of the column section (a column of a rectangular or circular section may be defined).
   3. Enter dimensions or a diameter of the column section.
   4. Select a support type (pinned, fixed).

Raft foundation

If the elasticity coefficient of the soil is known, it should be entered in the Elasticity coefficient of the soil K edit field. If unknown, click Calculation of elasticity coefficient to open the Building Soils - calculations of K coefficient dialog.

Note that you can take the uplift of a slab into account in calculations.

The top right part of the dialog holds the following tools.

• Toggles the ruler.
• Translates / changes the reference point (switching on / off).
• Defines the grid. Cells of the grid (in the direction X and Y) and a position in the coordinate system may be defined.
• Toggles the graphical definition of columns supporting a slab (unavailable on the Raft foundation tab).
• Toggles the graphical definition of walls (unavailable on the Raft foundation tab).
