Manual verification

The Manual Verification dialog box is used for verification of a steel member against force values defined by the user according to the requirements of the NS 3472:2001 steel code. The dialog box opens on the screen after selecting the command Design > Steel Members Design - Options > Verification. The dialog box shown in the drawing below appears on the screen then.

To perform the verification of a structure member subjected to the action of user-defined internal forces, follow the steps below:

  1. select the member to be verified in the Verification of member no. field
  2. in the Internal forces in the analyzed section field enter values of appropriate internal forces (the units used are presented in the top right corner of the dialog box)
  3. in the Internal forces in the characteristic cross-sections field enter values of appropriate auxiliary internal forces (the units used are presented in the top right corner of the dialog box) needed for the code calculations of a member
  4. in the Load type field select code-defined lateral buckling parameters depending on the static scheme of a member (pressing the relevant icon opens the dialog box for definition of the static scheme)
  5. choose calculation options after pressing the Options button
  6. press the Calculations button.

Once the Calculations button is pressed, the program will perform verification of the member and next, the result dialog box will be displayed on the screen.

Note: In calculations activated in the Manual Verification dialog box intermediate bracings defined in the Member Definition dialog box are not taken into account and the member is treated as one without bracings along its length.
