Limit Slenderness Values

Use this dialog to define limit values of slenderness of members subjected to compression and tension.

Access

  1. In the Steel/Aluminium design layout, click Configuration in the Calculations dialog.
  2. In the Configuration dialog, click Define.
Note: The SP16.13330.2017 code replaces the former SNiP II-23-81 and SP16.13330.2011 versions of the code for steel structures. Therefore, all references to tables or sections of the code apply to the SP16.13330.2017 code except otherwise stated.

Dialog elements

Compression tab
The Compression tab contains a set of structure elements for which limit values of slenderness of an element subjected to compression are defined by the code in table 32. If a case including the alpha coefficient is selected, then the program defines limit slenderness automatically in the course of calculations and compares it to the real slenderness calculated for the analyzed member.
Note: If you are using the SNiP II-23-81 version of the code, refer to the table 19 of the code.
Tension
The Tension tab comprises a set of structure elements for which limit values of slenderness of elements subjected to tension are defined by the code in table 33.
Note: If you are using the SNiP II-23-81 version of the code, refer to the table 20 of the code.

Whether the member is subjected to compression or tension, the program automatically recognizes the limit value that must be applied during the calculation.
