Shared positioning allows you to control the sun position on multiple model views.
This video demonstrates the following:
When performing a solar study on your model, you can use a shared position for the sun to do the study on multiple views using the same sun position. With a shared position, when you change the time of day or year in one view, it changes in all views.
Open a 3D view and, on the view control bar, turn on the sun path. Using the sun path, you can visually adjust the position of the sun for a solar study. Turn on shadows in the view to see how changing the sun position affects shadows on the model.
To use shared positioning for multiple views, you must enable Use shared settings for each view. On the view control bar, click Sun Settings. Select Still from the solar study section of the dialog, and then select Use shared settings. Click OK to close the dialog. Repeat this process for all views that will use the shared sun position.
In this example, several views use shared settings and have shadows turned on. When the position of the sun is changed using the sun path in the 3D view, you can see the shadows update in all of the views. You can export views from a solar study as images. Click the File MenuExportImages and AnimationsImage. In the Export Image dialog, choose the settings for export such as size, format, and export range. Click OK to export.
To create an animated solar study, you need to change to a single day or multi-day study in sun settings. Solar study animations do not use shared sun positions and must be set up for each view separately.
Use shared settings to perform still solar studies of multiple views of the model and then export those images for use in a presentation.
