Apply Visibility Settings for Linked Models to Multiple Views

If you have linked one or more Revit models into a host project, you can apply visibility settings for the linked models to multiple views by using view templates.

In the host model, create one or more view templates for each type of view: a template for plan views, a template for elevation views, and so on. Then apply the view templates to views in the host model to change the display settings for linked models.

To apply visibility settings for linked models to multiple views

1. In the host model, click View View Templates Manage View Templates.
2. Create or modify a view template for each type of view in the host model:
   1. In the View Templates dialog, under View Template Names, select a view template.
   2. Under View Properties, for V/G Overrides RVT Links, make sure the Include check box is selected, and click Edit.
   3. In the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog, on the Revit Links tab, click in the Display Settings column for a linked model.
   4. In the RVT Link Display Settings dialog, specify the desired visibility and graphics settings for linked models.

      For example, to hide grids in linked models, do the following:

      • On the Basics tab, click Custom.
      • On the Annotation Categories tab, for Annotation categories, select Custom, and then clear the Visibility check box for Grids.
   5. Click OK 3 times.
3. Apply the appropriate view template to corresponding views in the host model:
   1. In the Project Browser, select all views to which you want to apply a view template.

      For example, to apply a plan view template, select all plan views in the Project Browser.

   2. Right-click, and select Apply View Template from the context menu.
   3. Select the view template from the list, and click OK.
