Export a PDF File

Export one or more views or sheets to PDF format.

  1. Click File tabExport(PDF Export)
  2. Select the views/sheets to export.
    1. Current Window - Export the entire contents of the currently active view.
    2. Visible portion of current window - Export the visible extents of the currently active view.
    3. Selected views/sheets - Select multiple views and/or sheets for export. Use the drop down to select a previously saved set of views/and or sheets to export, or click to select views and/or sheets.

  3. Select the Export Setup. Use the drop down to select a previously saved export setup, or click to save the current setup.
    The export setup controls the Size, Orientation, Appearance, Output Processing, naming rules, and Options.
    Note: For additional information on the setting used in the export setup, see: Print Setup Dialog.
  4. Set the file options for the PDF export:
    1. Provide a file name for the exported PDF.
    2. Under File Name, select an option for the file name.
      1. Manually type in the name.
      2. When creating multiple PDF files, click to setup naming rules.
      3. In the setup naming rules dialog, select the parameters used for file naming. For example, "<SheetNumber>-<SheetName>" See: Setup PDF Naming Rules.
    3. If you are exporting multiple views/sheets and want them exported to a single PDF file, select Combine selected views and sheets into a single PDF file, under File Name.
    4. Browse to the location where you want to export your PDF file.
  5. Click OK to Export Views and Sheets as PDF.

Revit exports the selected views and sheets and places the files in the target folder.

To cancel the operation, click Cancel on the status bar. If you are exporting multiple views and sheets, all of the related export operations are canceled.
