Video: Place Cable Tray

Place tray cable in your model to design an electrical power system.

This video demonstrates the following:

1. Set an offset and define the tray path to place cable.
2. Upgrade an existing fitting.
3. Edit the fitting parameters directly in the drawing area.
4. Draw vertical cable tray.

When you use Revit to design an electrical power system, you can model cable tray in your design. Currently in Revit, cable tray elements are not part of the electrical system and do not provide analytical information to other connected elements.

Draw the cable tray by setting an offset and defining the path of the tray. The cable tray type parameters control what fittings are used at elbows, tees, and vertical segments when you change the offset. You can upgrade an existing fitting and then continue the run.

The With Fittings family type will display the seam lines at cable tray fittings, while the Without Fittings family type will place the fittings without the seam lines. You can edit the fitting parameters directly in the drawing area.

To draw vertical cable tray, specify the offset value as you continue to draw the cable tray run.

Placing cable tray is just one phase in the process of creating an electrical power system.
