Troubleshoot: Incompatible Version

When you try to use the Generative Design tools in Revit, a notification informs you that the installed version of Generative Design is not compatible with the version of Revit.

This happens after Revit is downgraded from version 2022.1 to version 2022.0. To regain access to Generative Design, you have two options:

The latest features in Generative Design are dependent on Revit 2022.1 and cannot be installed separately on top of Revit 2022.0.

Use Generative Design with Revit version 2022.0:

  1. On your computer, go to Add or Remove Programs, and enter Generative Design in the search bar.
  2. Select Autodesk Generative Design v22.4.10 For Revit, and click Uninstall.
  3. Open the Autodesk Desktop App, and on the Revit tab install Generative Design v.22.3.10.0 for Revit 2022.

If you don’t have the Autodesk Desktop App, you can download the file here.

  4. After installation is complete, you’ll be able to use Generative Design with Revit version 2022.0.

Use Generative Design with Revit version 2022.1:

  1. Open the Autodesk Desktop App, and on the Revit tab install Revit 2022.1.

If you don’t have the Autodesk Desktop App, you can update Revit by going to manage.autodesk.com and logging in with your Autodesk account credentials.

  2. After installation is complete, you’ll be able to use Generative Design with Revit version 2022.1.
