Import a FormIt file into a model and use it to develop your design.
When you import a FormIt file to a
Revit model, the geometry from the FormIt file is converted into
Revit geometry.
Workflow examples of importing a FormIt file to a project:
- Some team members use FormIt to develop a conceptual model. You import the conceptual model and begin to develop the design further in
Revit. Use building maker tools to convert the geometry form the conceptual model into more developed
Revit elements. For additional information see:
Create Building Elements from Mass Instances.
- Team members are using FormIt to perform site analysis of the project. You want to import their FormIt model to a
Revit model and use it as context for views.
FormIt files can also be imported into family files. The workflows are the same as when imported into project files with the following exceptions:
- Imported geometry is not able to be exploded.
- Non-uniform scaling will preform better when importing to a family resulting in more accurate geometry.
- Energy analysis function may not work with families containing imported FormIt geometry.
