Structural Wall Type Properties

Change structural wall type properties to modify its structure, wrapping behavior, function, and more.

To change type properties, select an element and click Modify tabProperties panel (Type Properties). Changes to type properties apply to all instances in the project.

Construction
Structure Specifies a wall layer. Select the Edit button to add, change, or delete a wall layer. See Edit Layers in a Compound Structure.
Wrapping at Ends Select either None, Exterior, or Interior. Sets the layer wrapping of wall end caps. See Layer Wrapping.
Wrapping at Ends Specifies the layer wrapping of wall endcaps. See About Layer Wrapping.
Width Specifies the width of the wall.
Function Specifies the function of the wall, which identifies specific properties: Interior, Exterior, Foundation, Retaining, Soffit, or Core-shaft. See About Wall Function.
Graphics
Coarse Scale Fill Pattern Specifies a fill pattern for an element in a coarse-scale view. See View Properties.
Coarse Scale Fill Color Specifies a color for the fill pattern for an element in a coarse-scale view.
Materials and Finishes
Structural Material Specifies a material for the structure of the element. This information can be included in schedules. Click the value box to open the Material Browser. See Materials.
Analytical Properties
Heat Transfer Coefficient (U) Used in calculating the heat transfer, typically by convection or phase change between a fluid and a solid.
Thermal Resistance (R) A measure of a temperature difference, by which an object, or material, resist a heat flow (heat per time unit or thermal resistance.
Thermal Mass Equivalent to thermal capacitance or heat capacity.
Absorptance A measure of the ability of an object to absorb radiation, equal to the ratio of the absorbed radiant flux to the incident flux.
Roughness A measure of the texture of a surface.
Identity Data
Type Image Displays a user-defined image file that represents the element. See Manage Images Dialog.
Keynote Specifies or modifies the structural element keynote. Click in the value box to open the Keynotes dialog. See Keynotes.
Model The manufacturer internal number.
Manufacturer The manufacturer of the element.
Type Comments A field for entering general comments about the element type. This information can be included in a schedule.
URL A link to a web page that may contain type-specific information.
Description A description of the element.
Assembly Description A description of the assembly based on the assembly code selection. This is a read-only value.
Assembly Code A Uniformat assembly code selected from a hierarchical list.
Type Mark A value that designates the particular element. This value must be unique for each element in a project. Revit warns you when the number is already used, but allows you to continue using it. You can see the warning using the Review Warnings tool. See Reviewing Warning Messages.
Fire Rating The fire rating of the element.
Cost The pricing of the element.
