Learn about the warning messages that appear during working with the Advance Steel Extension for Revit and how to resolve the specific situations.
Warning Type | Warning Text | Description |
---|---|---|
Warning for elements that cannot be exported. | Element could not be exported. | This warning message is displayed when the extension is not able to export an object to the SMLX file. The object that is causing the export to fail is highlighted in the model. You can abort the export process, delete the object, and export the model again. |
Warning for time exceeding export process. | The number of Load Combinations is relation to the number of elements is very big. The export could take a long time. Do you want to continue? |
The Advance Steel Extension for Revit exports the structural analysis results from all the load combinations. This warning message is displayed to inform you that the export process may take longer than expected. This happens because of the large number of load combinations in the Revit model. You can choose to abort the export process, make a back-up of the model, delete all the load combination cases that don not matter in the analysis, and export the model again. |
Warning when the extension is not able to export an element and highlight it in the model. | Advance Steel Extension encountered an error. We are sorry for the inconvenience. |
When the extension is not able to export an element, it no longer creates the SMLX file and displays the warning message. Follow these steps to find the elements:

Warning for elements that cannot be synchronized. | A profile export type incompatibility was detected. Please try to check/uncheck "Export custom profiles as dynamic" from the "Settings" menu and retry. For detailed objects list see <file path> |
One or several elements cannot be synchronized. When you press the Synchronize button the model is exported to SMLX. Next, you click Load to load the SMLX file with which you want to synchronize. The two SMLX files are compared to display the modifications. The warning message displays because an element with the same ID GTC is written in the two SMLX files, with different transfer. Because of this the files cannot be compared. In this case, open the Settings dialog and check or uncheck the "Export custom profiles as dynamic" option and synchronize again. |
