Rebar Type Properties

View and modify the parameters that define the type properties of rebar elements.

To change type properties, select an element and click Modify tabProperties panel (Type Properties). Changes to type properties apply to all instances in the project.

Name Description
Constructions
Deformation

Specifies the deformation parameter for the selected bar type (deformed or plain). This parameter is taken into account in analysis.

Rounding Overrides Specifies the rounding parameters for the selected bar type. This overrides the rounding parameters defined in the Rebar Instance Properties dialog.
Note: This parameter is available only if reinforcement rounding was specified in the project.
Graphics
Subcategory Used to provide graphic overrides of rebar by subcategory. To create a new subcategory, click Manage tabSettings panelObject Styles. In the Structural Rebar category add new subcategories beneath the main category.
Materials and Finishes
Material Specifies rebar materials. Select materials in the Materials dialog.
Dimensions
Bar Diameter Specifies the bar diameter used to compute the reinforcement volume, the hook lengths, and rebar coupler placement.
Model Bar Diameter Specifies the diameter used for the size of the bar when modeling it, for the selected bar type. Refer to the images in Rebar Hook Length Parameters.
Standard Bend Diameter Specifies the diameter of non-hook bends for the selected bar type. Refer to the images in Rebar Hook Length Parameters. This parameter does not affect rebar shape.
Standard Hook Bend Diameter Specifies the diameter of hook bends for the selected bar type. Refer to the images in Rebar Hook Length Parameters. This parameter does not affect rebar shape.
Stirrup/Tie Bend Diameter Specifies a rebar bend diameter that can be either a standard bend or stirrup/tie bend. This parameter defines the radii for the selected bend type. Refer to the images in Rebar Hook Length Parameters.
Hook Lengths Specifies hooks based on a specific bar type. Click Edit to open the Rebar Hook Length dialog. Refer to the images in Rebar Hook Length Parameters.
Maximum Bend Radius Specifies the Maximum Bend Radius for rebar schedules. Its purpose is to compensate for rebar that is bent in the field due to larger bend diameters.
Identity Data
Keynote The keynote text.
Model The manufacturer internal number.
Manufacturer The rebar manufacturer.
Type Comments General comments about the rebar type. You can include this information in a schedule.
URL Specifies a link to a web page that contains type-specific information. Click the icon to establish a link.
Description An optional description of the rebar type.
Assembly Description The uniformat classification for the currently selected assembly code.
Assembly Code Specifies the uniformat assembly code.
Type Mark A type-specific label used, for example, as a shop mark. This value must be unique for each element in a project. Revit warns you if the value is in use, but allows you to continue using it. You can see the warning using the Review Warnings command. See Reviewing Warning Messages.
Cost The user-defined cost of the rebar.
