Troubleshooting: eTransmit for Autodesk Revit

When you use eTransmit to package a Revit model, the Transmittal Report (_TransmittalReport.txt) provides details on any errors that occurred during the transmittal process.

Error Reports (_Error Report - model name.html) provide information on any errors that occurred during the upgrade and purge unused processes, if these options were selected. These reports are stored in the same folder as the transmitted files.
Note: If you selected not to include the transmittal and error reports, then even if errors are encountered, the reports are not generated and detailed error information is not available.

For additional information, see the Known Issues document for the eTransmit for Autodesk Revit add-in.

The following table lists the possible errors in the transmittal report and recommended solutions:

Error Message Problem Solution
There is not enough disk space to transmit the files. There is not enough disk space in the specified save directory to transmit the files. Clear space on the disk or specify a different save directory.
You do not have permission to write to directory <directory name>. You do not have write permission on the specified save directory and the files cannot be copied to the directory. Change the permissions on the save directory or identify a different save directory.
The file could not be found. The file was deleted before it could be copied, or the file is on a network drive and the network is down. Locate the missing file and either copy it manually to the save directory or run eTransmit for Autodesk Revit again.

A linked file that can't be found during the transmittal process is unloaded in the host model. The recipient will need to reload the link when the file is available.

A file with the same name but a different path has already been transmitted. <file path/file name> will need to be sent manually. eTransmit for Autodesk Revit encountered 2 files with the same name, but they have different directory paths. The first file is transmitted successfully, but the second file cannot be transmitted. Manually send the second file, if required.

The recipient will need to change the file name and edit references, for example, links, keynotes, and decals.

<file name> could not be checked for links. Its linked files will not be transmitted. The file is one of the following:
  • Revit release 2011 or earlier
  • Corrupt
  • Revit Server locked file
If you want the linked files to be transmitted, upgrade the file to Revit 2012, and run eTransmit for Autodesk Revit again.
Unable to contact the Revit Server to access <file name>. The Revit Server could not be contacted during the transmittal process. Retry transmitting the model, or contact your Revit Server Administrator to diagnose the issue.
The Revit Server file is locked and could not be transmitted. One of the following situations occurred when eTransmit for Autodesk Revit attempted to copy the file:
  • a user was synchronizing with Central
  • the file was locked by the Revit Server Administrator
Retry transmitting the model or send the file manually when it is available.

A linked file that can't be found during the transmittal process is unloaded in the host model. Even if you manually include the file in the transmittal package, the recipient will need to reload the link in the host model.

eTransmit was unable to open the file. The file could not be upgraded because:
  • it is corrupt
  • a fatal error was encountered

eTransmit was unable to run Purge Unused on the file. The Purge Unused process failed, but the file was upgraded successfully.
