For detailed steel modeling, the Revit steel connections list now includes stiffeners. This new family type consists of one or two steel plates that reinforce a beam or column section, welded to the input beam or column.
The stiffener displays a guiding reference line when you move the stiffener by dragging the connection's grip outside the beam where the stiffener is built on.
The loading and creation process for the stiffener is the same as for the other steel connections. However, the stiffener also requires a point selection during creation in order to place it on the selected input beam in that place. Also, like the other connections, it has a set of parameters that can be adjusted, including plate thickness, number of stiffener plates, corner finish geometry, and weld type. Using the Properties palette, you can define a pattern of stiffeners by providing several pieces and a fixed distance. The resulting plates are part of the same connection.
This feature is described on the product road map.
