Callout views have the option to be preserved when the parent view is deleted.
When a callout view is placed, the parent view is set as the view where the callout is placed. Set the parent view to <none> to create an independent callout view. Independent callout views are preserved when the parent view is deleted. When a parent view is deleted, you are asked if you would like to make callout views independent.
Control the visibility of a callout view by setting the "Show in" parameter of the callout view. Set a callout view to be visible in the parent view only, or in intersecting views. Callouts without a parent view are visible in intersecting views.
