Creating and Editing Steel Parts

You can now create steel elements such as plates, bolt patterns and contour cuts directly in elevation and section views and edit them in any type of view.

These new capabilities apply to the following elements:

In previous versions, when you started to create these elements in section or elevation views, you would be redirected to a horizontal or a 3D view.

If you start to create a steel plate in a new section or elevation view, which does not have a work plane set, you will be prompted to set a work plane for that view. If the work plane is already set, the steel plate will be created directly.

In the case of bolt patterns and contour cuts created in vertical views which do not have a work plane set, the automatic prompt will not show up, because these elements require a face selection within their creation process and the work plane would not be used anyway.

In some cases, where the elements require a face selection during the creation process, the face where the element needs to be created may not be immediately highlighted when moving the mouse pointer over it. In these cases, use Tab to make a specific face available for selection.

This feature is described on the product road map.
