Eight new model categories have been added to allow more control over elements in your model. New functionality has been added to existing infrastructure categories.
The following model categories are now available for use in projects and families. All new categories are cuttable in views, can be tagged, and can be used in material takeoffs. These categories behave as generic models with respect to discipline and visibility/graphics settings.
- Food Service Equipment
- Medical Equipment
- Fire Protection
- Vertical Circulation
- Audio Visual Devices
- Signage
- Hardscape
- Temporary Structures
Loadable families can be created with the following existing infrastructure categories:
- Roads
- Abutments
- Bearings
- Piers
- Bridge Framing
- Bridge Cables
- Bridge Decks
- Vibration Management
- Expansion Joints
- Structural Tendons
To create families in these categories, create an in-place model using the specified category, or create a loadable family starting with a generic model template and then change the family category. For additional information on changing the category of a family in the Family Editor, see
Specify Family Category and Parameters.
Important: When using shared parameter files, it is strongly recommended to save copies of your previous shared parameter files. Shared parameter files from
Revit 2022 may contain references to the new categories. If this occurs, you receive an error message when the shared parameter file is accessed from a previous version of
Revit. For more information, see
Shared Parameter file Can Not Be Read/Not Valid.
