You can add tags to annotate a view with values that are populated with parameters from the objects being tagged.

This example shows a furniture layout plan for a living room with the type mark value of each piece of furniture annotated with a tag. When you place a tag, the category of the tagged object determines which tag will be used.

To place tags without leaders, clear Leader in the Options Bar and place the tag. The tag is positioned at the origin of the tagged element. To place tags with leaders, enable Leader in the Options Bar and place the tag. The leader will attach to the mid-point of each side of a bounding box around the element. Position the tag with the leader where it best fits in your view.

Leaders are instance parameters associated with the tag. If you later decide you do not want the leader, select the tags and, on the Properties palette, clear Leader.

Depending on the geometry of the object tagged, a leader may not touch the tagged object. Select the tag and select Free End on the Properties palette. This adds an additional control point to the leader. Use the grips to position the end of the leader where you want it.

Be careful using a free end leader as it can be positioned to point at an object other than the one that's tagged. When changed back to Attached End, the leader will return to the default location.

Arrowheads are added to a leader from the Type Properties dialog for the tag. Select the tag and click Edit Type on the Properties palette. Select an arrowhead from the list and click OK.

Create additional arrowheads for use on the leaders. On the Manage tab, select Additional Settings > Arrowheads. Duplicate an existing type and make changes to the properties. In this example, a filled dot arrowhead is created. Now the filled dot arrowhead type can be assigned to the tag leader.

Modify and position the leaders in your views to best communicate your design.
