Insert a Drafting View from Another Project

You can reuse a drafting view from one Revit LT project in another Revit LT project, thus reducing rework.

Video: Use RVT File as a Library

  1. Open the target Revit LT project (that is, the project in which you want to insert the existing drafting view).
  2. Click Insert tabImport panelInsert from File drop-downInsert Views from File.
  3. In the Open dialog, select a project file, and click Open.
Note: You cannot insert drafting views from Revit files into Revit LT projects.

The Insert Views dialog opens, which displays views that are saved in the project.

  4. From the list, select an option for views to display.
  5. Select the views to insert, and click OK.

Revit LT creates a new drafting view with all the 2D components and text. If you have duplicate type names, the type name and properties from the current project are used, and a warning message displays.
